Gala Bookshelf , Valentines, Valentines and More Valentines!

The Friendly Frogs have been quite busy this past week designing a beautiful little bookshelf that will be on sale at the upcoming Shorecrest Gala on Friday March 1st. Each child chose their favorite shade of green and a special spot on the bookcase for their frog. A circle stamp for the body, pinky prints for eyes and thumbprints for the legs and those frogs were ready to hop! Don't miss out.... come to the Gala on March 1st!

Some parents had the opportunity for a sneak peek, seeing this process in action!

BUT.....that is not all! There is lots of art going on in our classroom these days. Just look at these vivid color designs in tempera.
Here is another proud artist at work at the easel, and she has so many details to share!

Not only have the children become experts at tracing stencils, but after much discussion on symmetry in recent weeks, they decided to add details to make them symmetrical all on their own.

"How big is you play-dough heart?" "Is it thinner or thicker than my heart?" "Let's compare!"

"Wow, that is me in the cockpit of that helicopter!" What fun the boys and girls had reliving their exciting trip to the Coast Guard as they watched themselves on the slideshow. Then they drew pictures of their favorite thing, and most often "things," about the trip!

"How many people and animals might his boat hold before sinking? " "Let's count!"

Number Bingo is a challenge, bot oh what fun! FOUR in a row and then we say, BINGO!!

"Look at me! I wrote my name with letter tiles!"  SO PROUD!

Then there was a special birthday celebration with Mom, Dad and all of the friendly frogs.

Each child signed their name on a big heart with a sweet valentine message to their family. They lined the PERIMETER of their heart with little dots of glue before placing it on their card.

Happy Valentine's Day! There were some very big smiles on Valentine's Day when the boys and girls opened their cubby to find a new furry little friend to hold and love!

At the Valentine's Day party, reading valentines on the rug was the best! Thank you parents and Mrs. Gootson for sharing in this excitement.

Yum, yum, yum! The children all enjoyed a delicious strawberry shortcake with whipped cream on top.

The children painted flower pots with dots, shapes, zig - zags and original designs.

After adding colored tissue to represent the dirt, the children added 6 chocolate kisses and chose a packet of flower seeds for their pots.

The boys and girls cut out a traced heart for their valentine headband.

Then they decorated their hearts with valentine stickers, stamps and markers.

Each child wrote their name on their headband, before attaching their heart. Voila!

The children loved them so much, that they never took them off. :)

To go with those cute hats, the children decorated t-shirts with a variety of hearts in delightful valentine colors.

Another fun activity was the heart bean bag toss!
What a fabulous party. Thank you so much parents for all of your help. You are the very best!
